Robert as September Student of the Month

The Character Education Student of the month is Robert Mejia from Ms. Puls Class.

Robert is a model of acceptance to all who know him. He frequently seeks first to understand others and consistently puts the needs of his classmates before his own.  Before Hurricane Irma, on a day when we had lunch in the classroom, Robert noticed a special-needs student sitting by himself to eat his lunch. Robert encouraged the student to join him and his group of friends.  With a rare smile, the student joined Robert and his friends instead of sitting alone.

In this way, Robert not only helped this student feel accepted, but he modeled for his classmates, many of whom were new to MC Riley, how to Seek First to be Understand in order to be a leader.  On a daily basis, Robert is demonstrating synergy at its best. I am proud of Robert and of his efforts to show acceptance to his classmates.

Congratulations on showing the character trait of Acceptance and shining as a leader at MC Riley Elementary school.
