This is the image for the news article titled Student of the Month | January 2019The Character Education Student of the month is Navieaah Caines from Ms. Colella’s class.

Perseverance, the ability to continue to work towards a goal despite challenges, is one of the most important indicators of future success. As a second grade student Navieaah Caines is already well on her way to success in both her academics and athleticism. She is helpful and kind hearted as well. When new concepts are introduced Navieaah, like all second graders, has challenges. She does at times get frustrated. However, rather than just putting in the minimal effort or giving up, she makes the proactive choice to give her very best.
On the playground Navieaah likes to practice gymnastics moves, despite not taking formal gymnastics. She is determined to master specific tumbles and flips, and will repeat them sometimes for the entire 20 minutes. Frustration at times begins to creep in when she can’t perform a flip just the way she would like, yet she is able to dig deeper in order to refocus her energy and try again.

Congratulations, Navieaah, on showing the character trait of Perseverance at MC Riley Elementary school and shining as a leader.
