the more your practice the better you get

Students in K-5 at Michael C. Riley Elementary and ECC participate in special related arts classes on a daily rotation.  These classes are designed to provide students an opportunity to explore five subjects: art, music, physical education, library, and dance.  These classes are not just for fun, they have an important role to play in developing the whole child and improving overall success.

Research shows that involvement in the arts is associated with gains in math, reading, cognitive ability, critical thinking, and verbal skill. Arts learning can also improve motivation, concentration, confidence, and teamwork.

There are many benefits of physical education in schools. When students get physical education, they can:

  • Increase their level of physical activity.
  • Improve their grades and standardized test scores.
  • Stay on-task in the classroom.
